The firm
We work across government, law enforcement, border, financial, legal and critical infrastructure environments, supporting both capability development and complex investigative requirements. In these environments, evidence is often highly interconnected. Documents, biometrics, digital devices, imagery, video and transactional data frequently overlap and must be interpreted together to establish meaning and reliability. ForenSys applies forensic science alongside technical understanding of evidence-generating systems to support accurate interpretation of complex, multi-source material. Our Team
Stewart Pope
Director and Principal Consultant
Stewart Pope is the founder and Director of ForenSys, bringing extensive experience at the intersection of forensic science, information technology and identity systems. His career has focused on helping organisations design, implement and operate capabilities that transform information, evidence and technology into operational outcomes. This unique combination of ICT and forensic expertise enables Stewart to bridge the gap between technical systems and the operational environments in which evidence is collected, analysed and relied upon.
Throughout his career, Stewart has led and advised on the development of forensic and identity-related capabilities across government, law enforcement, border security and private sector environments. His work has included the implementation of identity and biometric technologies, laboratory and workflow design, forensic technology selection, capability development programs, and the assessment of compliance with relevant standards and best practices. Stewart played a key role in the development of Australia's Trusted Digital Identity Framework (TDIF), authoring substantial components relating to identity, assurance and trust in digital services. This work helped establish foundations that now underpin significant elements of Australia's Digital ID system.
Stewart is a multidiscipline forensic expert with knowledge spanning document examination, digital forensics, biometrics, facial image comparison, image and video examination, and laboratory operations. His multidisciplinary expertise enables him to provide independent expert opinion in matters involving physical, digital and identity-related evidence, particularly where issues extend beyond the scope of a single forensic discipline. He has provided expert evidence and been accepted as an expert witness in Australian court proceedings.
Stewart is an experienced forensic trainer and educator, having designed and delivered specialist training programs for organisations including the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Frontex, and several Australian financial institutions. His international experience includes the development of the IOM's Document Examination Laboratory Manual for the Immigration Environment (DELMIE) and the delivery of specialist forensic training to representatives from more than a dozen countries. He currently teaches forensic science and examination at the Canberra Institute of Technology and the University of New South Wales.
Outside his professional work, Stewart is a volunteer firefighter with the ACT Rural Fire Service and competes in ultramarathon running.
